Go skateboarding day!

Every year on june 21st skateboarders all over the world enjoy go skateboarding day, for those lucky enough to live in the states and places where skateboarding has a better coverage this day is usually packed full of events and demos and stuff of that nature but here in cork its a little less exciting! We do try our hardest to make the best of the day but with sketchy weather and little to skate its hard! Thankfully this year the sun was out and the park was chilled out and fun, the way do skate day should be! I wanted to do something exciting and interesting to make the day good, sadly tho i was sick on the run up to the day and lack of budget i couldnt string anything amazing together! Thankfully Ian was kind enough to supply me with a few decks to do what ever i felt like with! (cheers Ian) I wasnt too sure what to do with them, but seeing as it was GO SKATEBOARDING day i decided to just have fun with them and just do something simple and make a few skaters a little happier. After all go skate day is just a day to have fun and enjoy the thing that makes us all so happy! I decided to give one deck to the one kid who goes out everyday, tries so hard and is always ripping no matter how wrecked his board is! so congratualtions to Aine, for being a little ripper. With barely any nose or tail left and no pop he still tries so hard, so he definitly deserved it.

Later in the afternoon while skating the park i thought it be cool just to get everyone in on a session over to hip and throw in the prospect of a free deck just to get the buzz going! After 20 minutes of bangers and hard slams, and with one deck for the guys under 16 snd one for the guys over 16, Jerry (under 16) and Fedge (over 16) got a new deck each just for having a bit of fun on the hip! Jerry stole it with a nollie heel and a frontside flip, while Fedge just skated like he always does and ruined the hip with nollie and switch magic! Cheers for getting into it lads! Hope ye enjoy ye'r decks! All in all it was only a couple of decks, but it was a good day and a few skaters got new decks for just having fun on a sunny day. I think thats how go skate day should be. nothing over the top, just go skate, be with friends and have fun doing it.............and maybe get some free shit! haha Hopefully next year the sun will shine again and hopefully there'll be summit fun to do! Also thanks Ian for being supportive of skateboarding!!!
