Is it possible to write a short intro into how and why you first got into shaping, with any surfing highlights etc. It started with me repairing boards in 1965 and then I got into glassing them in 1967 and by 1969 I was shaping them and have been ever since! Some of my highlights must be the 5th place I got in the B grade heat ine East Coast Boardriders club of Gunnamatta in 1965 ( the judges were paid to elevate me) Back in the day ( the 60’s and 70’s) all the great spots( Angourie , Noosa Bali ) I was in I was in JBay in 1970 there were only ten surfers in the whole town! Surfing since age of? 14 First board shaped at age of? 19 Approx how many boards have you made? Lost Count Of all your boards you have shaped, is there one that stands out as a favourite - tell us its story? I still have my 8ft Guethary board which was handshaped and is now 5years old ( I don’t keep my boards ) and the original 81 Addict which is in Australia ( one of the few I managed to keep my hands on!) How many models do you have in your range? 33 + Which boards do you most enjoy shaping? The ones I can testride Do you have a trademark board that really epitomises your shaping style and vision? The Addict or any of the retro’s I do. What's the thing you most love about shaping ? Creativity , product testing and PAYDAY!
